RV Park/Campground Review: Study Butte RV Park in Study, Butte, Texas

STUDY BUTTE RV PARK, Study Butte, TX

Stayed: February 2020

  • PROS:
    • Close to an entrance to Big Bend National Park
    • Across the road from a small, but well-stocked grocery store.
    • The boys loved watching all the cats that lived in the RV park.
    • The people staying there were very friendly for the most part.
  • CONS:
    • Poor cell service and unreliable internet.
    • Many of the spaces are super close together so that slide-outs are practically touching slide-outs of neighbors. The owners said they were going to try to fix that though.
    • There are only four working washing machines and five working dryers in the laundry room, and as the laundry is open to the public, it’s frequently used by people not staying in the RV park.  This made it very difficult to get laundry done as the machines were almost constantly in use.
    • There’s no office for the RV park.  There’s a sign on the ground next to the laundry room that lists the phone number of the owners, but most people that pulled in didn’t see it.  Almost every day we watched people pull in, look around for an office, then approach the abandoned mobile home across from us, trying to find an office.  We lost count of the number of times we helped people get a hold of the owners so they could get a site.
    • The cats used the loose dirt around our site as a litter box.
    • The electric stanchion for our site was so close to the ground we were barely able to plug our surge protector into it.
    • The sewer was uphill making it difficult to dump tanks.
